We are not in-network with insurance providers. However, if you have out-of-network benefits with your plan, we can provide a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. You can contact your insurance carrier to learn more about your benefits.

  • This is a question many people have, and it’s an important one.

    1. Greater Privacy & Confidentiality

Insurance companies require therapists to share diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes to justify coverage. When insurance is not involved, your therapy remains more private and focused solely on your needs—not on meeting insurance requirements.

    2. More Individualized Care

Insurance often dictates session length, frequency, and type of treatment. Private-pay practices allow therapists to tailor care to what works best for you, rather than following predetermined guidelines.

    3. Freedom from Diagnostic Pressure

To bill insurance, therapists must assign a mental health diagnosis—even when someone is seeking support for life transitions, relationship challenges, or personal growth. Private-pay therapy allows clients to explore concerns without being labeled or pathologized.

    4. Consistency and Continuity

Insurance coverage can change unexpectedly, interrupting care. Private-pay practices help ensure consistent treatment without sudden denials, session limits, or forced provider changes.

    5. Sustainable, High-Quality Care

Working with insurance involves significant administrative demands, delayed payments, and reduced reimbursement rates. By limiting these burdens, therapists can focus more fully on client care and maintain a sustainable practice.

    6. Superbills & Reimbursement Options

Many private-pay therapists provide superbills, which clients can submit to their insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement, depending on their plan.

This choice is never about making therapy feel out of reach. It’s about protecting the quality, consistency, and integrity of the therapeutic space. If cost is a concern, open conversations and referrals are always welcome.

You deserve care that feels supportive, respectful, and aligned with your needs.
